The First Post

I’m great at tackling new hobbies, finishing projects is my personal challenge but I have finished a few projects already and thankfully my mother-in-law (the quilter who got me started) gave me the best advice for a beginner…start small. So I started with table runners and gradually started doing lap quilts and feel I have basic piecing skills, not advanced stuff yet but I’m looking forward to learning new skills.

What I love most about quilting is the fabric! So much to choose from but my dedicated fabric storage space can only fit so much. I am blessed to have a dedicated crafting space. I was an avid scrapbooker that is on a hiatus, though I’m planning on catching up in that arena soon. But as a scrapbooker, I loved all the papers and playing with color and textures, things that are definitely present in quilting as well. But fabric…šŸ˜ I have definitely learned what my fabric styles are as well and while I love almost all of it, I definitely lean to certain color families and print styles.

In any case, my crafting room isn’t solely quilting. And as a mother of two daughters, there’s always projects to help them with…science project displays, ironing uniforms, blinging dance costumes. And I am a tennis player and work so my dinner plate is full but sometimes I have time for dessert (crafts which right now is quilting). But space is limited so how to make space for new fabrics…finish projects.

What am I working on now? Well, I just visited Road to CA 2023 and picked up rulers and a Sew Steady extension for my Babylock Soprano. So in a few weeks I’ll start playing around with small project quilting. Time for a new table runner.

Inspiration today from Villa Rosa’s Blog Hop.
